A Durham Nonprofit · Est. 2014
We are neighbors, artists, and organizers building a city that celebrates its heritage and makes room for every story.
Our Mission
Culture Durham is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving local heritage, supporting working artists, and creating free public spaces for music, conversation, and craft. We are independent, neighbor-led, and not affiliated with the City of Durham. Every program we run is built with — and for — the neighborhoods of Durham.
Programs & Events
Three core programs anchor our year. Each one is free to the public and powered by donations and volunteer hours.

Heritage
Free monthly sessions with Durham's master artisans — from textile weaving to letterpress and ceramics.

Music
Summer evenings of local musicians on outdoor stages across the city. Always free, always for everyone.

Youth
Working with schools and teaching artists to paint public murals that tell our community's stories.
